In barely a decade, the designer toy craze has taken the world by storm. Beginning in Hong Kong and Japan in 1997, the phenomenon soon went global, spreading to the United States and Europe, inspiring new artists and a dedicated collector's culture. I Am Plastic is a colourful visual history of the movement, which has energized not only the toy world, but the global art community as well.
