This month's post is by the lovely Helen Canning who runs the blog Coco Mama Style
which is all about fashion and inspiring ladies to get their mojo back after having had a baby.
The blog was born out of her own style rut and realisation that she was wearing the same few
pieces in her wardrobe after the birth of her daughter, Coco Lily.
She has spent the last 9 years working in the fashion industry working for national magazines,
the high street, real life features, TV, celebrities, she's styled them all as well as working with
Nicky Hambleton-Jones during and after her pregnancy.
This lady knows her stuff so I asked her about up dating a wardrobe ready for Autumn.
This is what she suggested:
10 ways to update your look for Autumn
All it takes are a few easy additions to your wardrobe to bring your look bang up to date.
These 10 wearable trends will instantly up the ante for your new season style.
Checks, plaid, tartan whatever your choice, this is an easy print to wear with denim for throw-it-on style.
Flattering and on-trend, what’s not to love about this season’s penchant for burgundy jeans. Anything from a deep
cherry to plum or damson purple will give your wardrobe an instant Autumn update and the dark colour will still flatter
your thighs. Take the look a step further with coated denim for a waxed effect.
Work the opulent baroque trend by adding lace to your day look. Choose metallic threads for added fashion brownie
points and dress down with denim.
Be inspired by the ultimate yummy-mummy Elle MacPherson who rocks leather trousers as a staple in her wardrobe.
Ease yourself in to the look with leather or leather-look leggings and a chunky-knit long sweater. A leather jacket will always
give your look a rock-chick edge.
Highlight your capsule Autumn wardrobe with flashes of mustard, the accent colour of the season.
Look for plain sweaters, accessories or make a statement with a spicy yellow blazer.
Last season it was bird print which ruled the roost, this season it’s got specific and not just any bird will do but owl
prints take the lead thanks to Burberry’s influence on the catwalk.
As always, where the catwalk leads, the high street follows and this season it’s the Chloe studded boot which has
inspired the likes of Zara and Mango to bring us their version.
Jewel colours and embellishments are always an Autumn/Winter hit as the party season nears.
Look for jewel encrusted detail on eveningwear and for a more wearable take on the trend, work a chunky jewelled necklace.
The military trend is here once again and this utility look is great for mums.
With pockets galore and khaki tones which will still look good when grubby.
Thank you for the wonderful post Helen.
